Carrie Kazda began her career in the classroom in 2000 as a third grade teacher at Northside Elementary in Waxahachie ISD. Throughout her seven year career as an elementary instructor, she has taught at the first through fourth grade levels and served as a grade level leader, UIL coordinator, and new teacher mentor. In 2007, Kazda moved into the Assistant Principalship at what was formerly Turner Middle School and, in 2008, moved to Felty Elementary to serve as Assistant Principal. As assistant principal, Kazda was a leader for campus initiatives such as the Positive Behavior Initiative Support system which encouraged students to make good choices and focus on academics. She was also instrumental in leading her campus to Exemplary status. In 2012, she was named principal of Felty Elementary. Kazda holds a Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies from Texas A&M University and a Master of Education from the University of Texas at Arlington. She is certified in Principalship, Instructional Leadership Development, Elementary Mathematics and Reading, and Elementary Self Contained. Kazda is a member of the Texas Elementary Principals and Supervisors Association. Kazda and her husband Gary have two daughters, Julia and Brooke.
